Julien Ochala receives Carlsberg Foundation Young Researcher Fellowship

Fellowship grant

Associate Professor Julien Ochala has received a Young Researcher Fellowship from the Carlsberg Foundation for the project ”Unveiling the secrets of the enigmatic myosin-binding protein C”.

This year, one of the Carlsberg Foundation Young Researcher Fellowships has been awarded to Associate professor Julien Ochala, who joined the Department of Biomedical Sciences in May 2020. With the appointment, Julien will receive approx. DKK 5 million from the Carlsberg Foundation for his research over the next three years.

The focus of Julien’s project is the protein Myosin-binding protein C (MyBP-C) and how this particular protein works and how it influences muscle contraction and relaxation. The studies will provide important basic muscle biology insights and give valuable information for the development of targeted therapies for cardiac and skeletal muscle diseases associated with mutations in MyBP-C.
