Objective: To ascertain the relevance of KCNE1 gene and lone atrial fibrillation.
Methods: 94 subjects with lone atrial fibrillation (case group) and 130 unrelated healthy controls (control group) were enrolled randomly. PCR-sequencing was performed to screen KCNE1 gene with the G116A polymorphism and then the relevance of each genotype (GA, GG or AA) of KCNE1 gene and the phenotype of lone atrial fibrillation were determined.
Results: There were no statistic differences in genotypic distributions of gene KCNE1 between case group and control group (48 vs 37, 72 vs 54 and 10 vs 3 for GA, GG and AA respectively ¿ 2= 1.568 ,P0.05).
Conclusion: KCNE1 gene is not related to lone atrial fibrillation.
