Matthew Paul Gillum appointed Associate Professor

Appointment

As of 1 April 2025, Matthew Paul Gillum has taken the next step in his career at the Department of Biomedical Sciences as Associate Professor.

Matthew Paul Gillum has previously been employed at Novo Nordisk and has a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Physiology from Yale. His research focus is to discover novel regulators of hunger and fullness, with particular interest in the human appetites for sugar and alcohol.

His current work is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation to investigate how the liver secretes hormones to regulate alcohol intake, as well as establish their potential in treating alcohol use disorder and alcoholic liver disease. He will be joining the Research Theme of Endocrinology and Metabolism in a 3-year position.

Matthew on his appointment:
