New Head of Department at the Department of Biomedical Sciences
On September 1st, Birgitte Holst will take up the position as the new Head of Department here at the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Birgitte comes from a position as Scientific Director at the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and she has previously been affiliated as an professor mso here at the department.
She will focus on strengthening the synergy between internationally recognized researchers and young talents, as well as supporting a positive working environment and collaboration across the department.
“For me, the Department of Biomedical Sciences is characterized by its broad and inclusive structure, where there is room for a diversity of researchers, students, and administrative staff.
Despite the wide variation in research interests and expertise, I also see a unique cohesion within the department. Everyone works together towards the common goal of promoting excellent, basic, and translational research and teaching at the highest level.
I believe that the departments different perspectives and competencies contribute to its strong position both nationally and internationally.”
Birgitte is a trained medical doctor and has spent the last 25 years conducting research and working in both the USA and Denmark, with a special focus on the cardiometabolic field. We at the department look forward to collaborating with Birgitte and welcome her aboard.
