Charlotte Mehlin Sørensen appointed Professor
Charlotte Mehlin Sørensen has been appointed Professor at BMI as of 1 November 2026 following an open recruitment process.
Charlotte has been affiliated with BMI for more than 25 years and has dedicated her career to research in renal physiology, with a particular focus on the regulation of renal blood flow and filtration. Her research also investigates the causes of hypertension. The kidneys play a central role in this context, as they help regulate blood pressure while also being affected by it.
Charlotte's research group is part of the Integrative Circulation division and currently consists of seven researchers.
Commenting on the appointment, Charlotte says:
"It is a great joy and honour to be appointed Professor at BMI. It is a recognition of the work one does within one's field of research. I hope that, going forward, I can use this professorship to strengthen research in renal physiology. After all, the kidney is the body's most important organ 😉"
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Charlotte on her appointment!
