BMI researcher part of ground-breaking study

Research

Together with researchers from all over the world, Associate Professor Tor Biering-Sørensen has published results from a large, randomized study showing that a new medicine can improve the prognosis for treatment of patients with heart failure.

In a new study, which was published last Friday in New England Journal of Medicine, Associate Professor Tor Biering-Sørensen and researchers from all over the world have shown that a new medicine for treatment of patients with heart failure can reduce the risk of hospitalization due to heart failure and heart death with 8%. The new medicine that the researchers have tested increases the contractility of the heart, which has earlier turned out to improve the patient’s prognosis.

The study was presented at the American Heart Congress (AHA) and the study was simultaneously published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
