Professor Jens Juul Holst receives prestigious prize
Professor Jens Juul Holst is awarded the prestigious prize based on his discovery of the GLP-1 hormone used in the treatment of metabolic diseases such as diabetes.
The Harrington Prize is awarded annually to researchers who have delivered remarkable and groundbreaking scientific results with high potential for innovation and clinical use.
"I am very happy to receive this prize, especially as European/Nordic research rarely attracts attention in North America. So it is a bit of a breakthrough" says Jens Juul Holst about being awarded the Harrington Prize.
Professor Jens Juul Holst will share the prize with Dr. Daniel J. Drucker from the Mount Sinai Hospital in Canada and Dr. Joel F. Habener from Massachusetts General Hospital in the United States, who have also delivered notable achievements within the treatment of metabolic diseases.
