The history of BMI

The Department of Biomedical Sciences was formed on 1 January 2007 in order to merge the resources of five smaller departments into a powerful unit concentrating on basic research from a clinical perspective to improve diagnostics and patient therapies. Our teaching and research is at a high international level and is always undertaken from a clear clinical perspective.

The staff of the Department of Biomedical Sciences are drawn from the former

• The Department of Medical Anatomy (MAI)
• The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Genetics (IMBG)
• The Department of Pharmacology (FI)
• The Department of Molecular Pathology (IMP)

The Department of Biomedical Sciences is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the core activities of which are aimed at creating new knowledge and understandingvia research, teaching, knowledge-sharing and communication.
